Escape from Fort De Soto 2012

Saturday, April 14, 2012. 7:00 AM start.
Swim .5 miles, Bike 10 miles, Run 3.4 miles
Please note the new 7:00 AM start time.

Welcome new and returning Escape participants! 2012 marks the 26th year for the Escape from Ft. De Soto Triathlon. To those of you who have done the event before, welcome back. To those new to the event, you may be interested to know that the park is ranked one of the top-ten beaches in the United States; nine hundred unspoiled acres surround you. First timers, we anticipate that you will have a great first triathlon at Ft. De Soto. To all, we ask that you enjoy the surroundings and please leave the park cleaner than you found it. To mark the 26th anniversary of the Escape From Ft De Soto we will follow the original course which starts from the north beach area of the park. The course will consist of .5 mile swim, 10 mile bike, and 3.4 mile run. Honoring Fort De Soto, we incorporate the stairs into the run leg of the event. Come out and celebrate the 26th year — it should be the best ever! We hope to have some athletes from the original class of 1987.

Regarding registration, the Escape from Ft. De Soto Triathlon is limited to 1,000 participants and, if past races are any indication, will sell out well before race day (last year before March 1st) so please sign up today to guarantee your spot. There is no race day registration. No refunds. Your entry includes a custom t-shirt and entry to our great post-race party.

If you have questions about registration or the event, the best place to ask them is on our message board. The message board is also a great place for new triathletes to ask questions about triathlon and a place for the experienced to swap pre and post-race stories. If you need a hotel room, please see the hotel specials page. Should you need assistance with your bicycle, we suggest our official bicycle sponsor, OutSpokin Bicycles.

We look forward to seeing you at the event! Please enjoy the event and be safe.

Sincerely,
Joe Fernandez, Fred Rzymek
Co-Race Directors
